ICT4CART at the Automated Vehicles Symposium in Orlando, Florida

The last 16th of July ICT4CART, brilliantly represented by Dr. Vasilis Sourlas from ICCS, flew to Orlando, Florida to participate to the Automated Vehicles Symposium.

The event brings together the brightest minds in the tech and automotive space to discuss the future of mobility and registers more than 1,800 attendees, 50 Exhibitors and 200+ speakers.

ICT4CART was presented in the framework of the breakout Session "Connected Infrastructure Systems Enabling Automated Vehicles in Smart Communities", which explored the opportunities and challenges of integrating automated vehicles (AVs) into the broader connected municipal infrastructure systems within a smart community or smart corridor.

How can public safety dispatch and communications services, first responders, and emergency managers interact safely and effectively with AVs? How can it use AVs to improve the safety and efficiency of emergency response and emergency management scenarios?

These and more questions were discussed during the session, focusing on how AVs can be integrated into a connected municipal infrastructure systems environment, and diving into practical considerations for coordinating AVs with emergency response, emergency management, and public safety communications.

The dynamic panel included industry professionals and was sponsored by the American Society of Civil Engineers, Federal Highway Administration, and Transportation Research Board: National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
